Martin University’s STRADA Scholars recently traveled to Dallas, Texas, for the HBCU Leadership Summit, an experience that proved to be both inspiring and transformative. The summit brought together student leaders from HBCUs across the country, creating a space for networking, learning, and professional growth.
The experience was more than just sitting in sessions and taking notes. Scholars had the chance to engage in real conversations with industry leaders, hear firsthand what it takes to succeed and connect with other students who share their drive and ambition. They walked away with fresh perspectives, new motivation, and a greater understanding of what leadership looks like beyond the classroom.
For some, like Kimberly Taylor, this was their first time attending a leadership conference, making the experience even more impactful. “My experience in Dallas was truly transformative—it was the best of my life. This journey has propelled me forward, opening doors to new opportunities and pushing me to pursue internships I may not have considered before. I am excited for what lies ahead and eagerly anticipate the next Summit”, stated Taylor.
This trip reinforced why leadership development is so important. Martin University is committed to preparing students for success beyond the classroom, and opportunities like this allow scholars to expand their networks, sharpen their skills, and gain the confidence to lead.
