Martin University to Co-host 8th Annual Golf Outing

Martin University has again partnered with Martindale Brightwood Community Development Corporation (MBCDC) to host the 8th Annual William A. “Bill” Crawford Charitable Golf Outing on September 2 at Eagle Creek Golf Course. Proceeds from the event will fund local workforce and housing development programs and services that focus on skills building, job readiness, career pathing, degrees completion, entrepreneurship and building social capital.

Crawford served for several years as a member of the Board of Directors for the MBCDC and was as a champion for underserved and disadvantaged communities. As a 40-year Indiana State Legislator, Crawford built a legacy that made him the most influential African-American elected official in Indiana’s history. In his long career as a public servant, he advocated for building thriving communities through higher education and minority business ownership.

“Martin University is proud to pay tribute to the late Bill Crawford and continue his legacy through the golf outing named in his honor,” said Dr. Sean L. Huddleston, President.

“We are grateful for Martin University’s partnership and support for this event,” said Amina Pierson, Executive Director of MBCDC. “This special fundraiser enables us to continue sustainable development of the Martindale Brightwood community.”
