Martin University Remembers Dr. Gene E. Sease

It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Dr. Gene E. Sease, a highly esteemed member of the Martin University community. Dr. Sease's leadership was characterized by his visionary approach and active community engagement. He played a pivotal role in bringing cable and cellular service to the Martin neighborhood, leaving a lasting impact on the university, the city of Indianapolis, and the many lives he touched.

Dr. Sease was a true advocate and supporter of Martin University. Among his many contributions, he assisted our founder Father Boniface Hardin in achieving the university’s first accreditation. Additionally, as President of the University of Indianapolis, he provided faculty members to teach courses at Martin during the initial years of operation. In recognition of his lifelong accomplishments and commitment, we awarded him the Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters in 2020.

As we mourn Dr. Sease's loss, we also celebrate his extraordinary life and enduring legacy. The Martin community extends our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. May they find comfort in the memories of his remarkable contributions and profound impact.
