Martin University is pleased to announce the promotion of Mattie L. Jones, Ph.D. to Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs. She previously served as the Associate Provost/Dean of Education, Chair of Humanities and Professional Studies, and Director of Early Childhood Education.
In her new role, Jones will oversee the university’s academic programs and strategic plan through collaboration with faculty, staff, administration, and other university stakeholders.
“Dr. Jones has worn many hats at Martin and worn them all well in the seven years she’s been with us,” said Dr. Sean Huddleston, President. “This is the obvious next step for her and will be the culmination of her experience and educational background that will greatly benefit our students and the university.”

Under her leadership, Jones developed and implemented programs to prepare students for life, service, and meaningful careers in these roles. She has over 20 years of experience as an administrator, professor, researcher, and author. Her passion for research led to the publication of four books.
Jones holds an Associate’s degree from Ivy Tech Community College in Business and Marketing and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Indianapolis in K-12 Teacher Licensure. She then attended Ball State University and obtained her Master’s degree in K-12 Education Administration. Ultimately, she earned her Ph.D. in Education at Indiana State University.
