Martin University is proud to announce the promotions of three members of its leadership team. All have been named officers of the University in their specific areas. They are:
Michael A. Couch II. Ed.D – Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management. He previously served as the University’s Chief Financial Aid Officer. Couch holds a bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University, a master’s degree from Western Michigan University, and a doctorate in Community College Leadership from Ferris State University.
John E. Girton. Jr – Vice President for the new Marketing and Communications Division. He previously served as Director of Marketing & Communications. Girton’s work experience in higher education extends from his previous teaching and marketing assignments at Tennessee State, Ball State, and Vanderbilt University Seigenthaler Center. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Ball State University and a master’s degree in Urban Ministry Studies from Martin University.
Carol Branson – Vice President of Information Technology. She previously served as the Director of Information Technology. Carol has worked and studied in technology for more than 30 years. Carol attended Clark College in Indianapolis.
“All three of these University leaders have proven to be valuable assets and their outstanding skills have benefited Martin,” said Dr. Sean Huddleston, President. “I’m proud to promote them knowing they will continue to do wonderful work on behalf of the University and wish them and their departments continued success.”
Founded in 1977, Martin University is Indiana’s only Predominantly Black Institution of higher education. It is steeped in a history of service and open to a diverse population of students.
