Throughout the month of February, distinguished Martin University Alums will be spotlighted providing us with an opportunity to honor these great individuals by learning more about their lives and their contributions to black history.
Annette Johnson is an educator, elected official, historian, researcher, writer, and community advocate. In the 2018 general election, she was elected Pike Township Trustee and has made a significant impact.
Trustee Johnson graduated from Martin University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, earned three Master’s degrees, & is currently a Doctoral Student at Ball State University.
Among being elected Trustee, Johnson has received numerous awards, including the 2019 Charles S. Kinchelow Civil & Human Rights Award and the 2019 Black Opal Honoree Educator Award. In addition, in 2016, she was named the Trailblazer of the Year Volunteer Impact Award recipient.
She is a life-long community advocate and a member of the NAACP & Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. She is a facilitator of a Self-Discovery Career Exploration Class for CLD and Board of Directors at Fay Biccard Glick Neighborhood Center.
